This policy describes what Thermocline collects, why, and what we never do with it. Short version: we collect what the product needs to plan your trips, we do not sell it, we do not run ads, and we do not track you across other apps.
To operate the product: scoring your trips against marine conditions, drawing your waypoints, computing your private statistics (including backtesting the model against your own logged catches), and sending the notifications you enable. Trip context may be processed by a text- generation service (Anthropic) to word explanations shown in the app; it is not used to train models and is not shared beyond that processing.
We use a small set of processors to run the Service: Clerk (authentication), Railway (cloud hosting, USA), Expo/Apple (push notification delivery), and Anthropic (explanation text). Each receives only what its function requires.
Ocean and weather data shown in the app comes from public providers (NOAA/NWS, NDBC, NASA, Copernicus Marine Service, Open-Meteo, Esri). Your personal data is never sent to them.
Your data is retained while your account is active. Email contact (tap to reveal) from your account address to request export or deletion; we will delete your account data within 30 days, except records we must keep by law.
The Service is not directed at children under 13 and requires users to be 18 or older.
We will update this policy as the product evolves (for example, if community sharing features launch); the "Last updated" date reflects the current version.
